Hello Supporters and Believers in Father Carr’s Place 2B,
I am Bob Lang and am very humbled, honored and happy to be your new Executive Director at Father Carr’s Place 2B. I am excited to be a part of Father Carr’s important mission serving those in need. Together, we serve and meet Jesus in and thru one another. I am excited about getting to know and work with you.
My wife Debbie and I moved back to my native Appleton 15 years ago from the Milwaukee area where we had lived for 17 years. We have been married for 31 years and are members at St. Pius X Parish, where my mother is a chartered member. Debbie and I have two sons Ryan, 29, and Aaron, 27. Ryan attended UW-Madison and then studied at Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He and is wife Laura are optometrists and practice in New Berlin, WI. Recently we were blessed with our first grandchild, Maeve Catherine. Aaron is a student at Cardinal Stritch College in Glendale and coaches boys volleyball at Shorewood and Nicolet High School.
In 1973, I graduated from Xavier High School, received a BS from UW-La Crosse in 1977 and later graduated with a MS from the University of Oregon in Eugene. In 2013, I completed my training and studies in the Emmaus program offered through Silver Lake College and the Diocese of Green Bay.
Throughout my career I have been fortunate and blessed to work in a school environment and with non-profit organizations serving youth, adults, and the community. Being called to Father Carr’s Place 2B is an opportunity and a gift from God to continue to serve others in a Catholic setting. I love my faith and the Catholic Church and have been active in many parish ministries including teaching youth faith formation and confirmation classes. Currently, I am a communion minister and serve on committees related to grief and pastoral ministry. I am also involved with the program “Christ Renews His Parish.”
As we know from scripture, we are God’s work in progress. Debbie and I know that God has guided our lives and has led us to Father Carr’s Place 2B. My goal is to serve faithfully and compassionately here and throughout the greater Oshkosh community. I am overwhelmed with the numerous stories many of you have shared of your amazing experiences with Father Carr. I know that Father Carr is smiling down on you, the many patrons and volunteers, who so graciously share their time and talent serving others.
Please pray for Debbie and me as we begin a new chapter in our life. We will also pray for you. As Pope Francis says often, “We all must pray more often and with more fervor, especially for those who need assistance of any kind.” Let us do our best to reach and serve the way Jesus taught us. May God bless you for your interest and involvement in Father Carr’s Place 2B. Your generous support and sharing of your time, talent, treasure, and love are greatly appreciated.
May God’s peace and love be with you and your family always,
Bob
