Oshkosh, WI – Every year, Father Carr’s hosts a special Christmas celebration for children. It’s a time when children and entire families can come together to make memories and experience the magic of the holiday season. This year, due to COVID-19, the celebration looked a bit different but in a big and remarkable way. On Saturday, December 19, the Father Carr’s Christmas Express brought the magic of Christmas to over 400 people in a unique drive-thru celebration for children. Families in need were able to experience a winter wonderland filled with holiday music and festive dancers, a live nativity, Santa in his sleigh and so much more. So many amazing Father Carr’s volunteers came together to provide a Christmas experience unlike anything else. Thanks to generous donors, businesses, and organizations, each family received chocolate milk and donuts, handmade hats, mittens and scarves, a stocking full of goodies, a children’s game and family game, a stuffed animal and blanket, a gift card, and an individual gift for every child in the family. “Father Carr’s Place 2B is committed to doing everything we can to help those in need, especially during these challenging times,” explained John Nieman, Father Carr’s Place 2B Executive Director. “Our Christmas Express was a labor of love, and the smiles and shrieks of excitement from children of all ages was an incredible reminder of just how special this season is. We are grateful to have been able to help our community experience the love of Jesus and to continue to live our mission here in Oshkosh.”
